Podiatry (previously known as Chiropody) is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the feet. Podiatrists are highly skilled professionals who have been trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate conditions of the feet and lower limbs. They can give you and your family advice on how to look after your feet and what type of shoes to wear, as well as treating and alleviating day-to-day foot problems.
Below are some of the most common treatments we offer at Boo & Harvey:
Diabetes (Type I and II) can cause nerve and blood vessel damage from high glucose levels in the blood which leads to decreased sensation (neuropathy) and reduced blood supply within the lower limb and foot. The changes are gradual, but it is important to check your feet regularly in order to prevent problems from becoming worse.
Nail surgery is a minor operation that is routinely carried out to treat painful toenail conditions such as involuted and ingrowing toenails. The procedure involves the removal of either all of or part of the painful toenail. The nail bed is then destroyed to prevent unwanted painful regrowth.
